Hi, I’m Mike – The Nerd Therapist
I’m a registered Counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association, and a lifelong nerd.
I run nerdy programs like Roll for Growth, which uses collaborative storytelling activities like Dungeons & Dragons as a framework for narrative therapy.
I specialise in supporting the diverse needs of young people, and have experience supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as autistic youths, and other neurodivergence. My passion, what I am driven to support in therapy, is people for whom ‘normal’ therapists or therapies have been unsuccessful with. This is why I have trained and volunteered in DBT settings, and I am always on the lookout for new ways to connect with the clients I see.
I am the author of Pop Culture Competence, a free blog resource which provides insights into aspects of pop culture, such as anime, comic books and videogames, from the perspective of a consumer and a qualified therapist.
